Cockatiel Info
Cockatiels are a favourite pet with a lot of people as they are not too big and not too small. They are also quiet placid and friendly birds.
They are now available in many different colours due to select breeding by many many breeders worldwide. Some of these variations are Latino, Pearl, Cinnamon, White Face and the list goes on.
Cockatiels can form strong bonds with their owner, and they can grow so attached to them that they try to protect by bitting and or hissing at any one or anything that comes near. This is why they should be allowed to bond with the whole family, not just the one family member who "owns" the bird.
Cockatiels can learn to whistle and talk and are also able to mimic every day sounds of other birds, family members and house hold noises such a phone ringing ect.
The average lifespan of a cockatiel is up to 15 years but it is not unusual for a cockatiel to live to 20 years of age. The occasional cockatiel even makes it to 30!
To ensure your cockatiel has a long and happy life, make sure you read our Bird Care Page.
Below are some photos of lovely baby cockatiels. All our birds are hand fed, and handled often, but carefully, to maximise their sociability.
