Ringneck Info
Ringnecks (Or Indian Ringnecks) are a great bird to keep as a pet, especially for those who want something a little bigger than a cockateil. When fully grown these birds measure appoximately 40cm in length and their single wing span measures about 15-17.5cm. The tail of the ring neck accounts for a large portion of its length. When buying a cage, you need to take this size into consideration.
Ringnecks come in many different colours such as green, lutino, blue, silver, and grey just to mention a few.
Only the male ringneck has the beautiful dark markings under the beak and the ring around his neck. These markings start to show as the bird matures at about 18months to 2 years of age. They are a very intelligent parrot and can be taught how to talk, whistle and also to do some tricks. They love to have a bath and can make a bit of a mess when splashing water everywhere.
Ringnecks, like all birds, have their own personality. They love to chew and to play with things so please make sure that what you give them to play with are bird-safe toys. We stock a range of good quality bird toys, so please feel free to have a look. As they love playing with their water, you should also make sure that what you give them is water proof.
Below are some photos of various Ringnecks. All our birds are hand fed, and handled often, but carefully, to maximise their sociability.
